From Thursday night: The city of Tauranga again erupted into explosions and gunfire around the Dockyard. Police heading towards the area to clear it for emergency services were themselves attacked, with 17 fatalities including the entire armed offenders squad of Tauranga. It is unclear at this time exactly how they were killed, though numerous firefights were heard.
The port has been closed temporarily, with ships instead heading for the port of Auckland to unload.
Many of the Ports of Tauranga dock workers have headed up to Auckland temporarily.
There have been no violent incidents in Tauranga since Thursday and no arrests have been made. There is a reward offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the darkest night in Police history in New Zealand.
