After some discussion we are considering the "Holdings" merit as throughout the game players have shown some interest in owning specific pieces of property in Auckland.

This would be a graduated merit, specifically for a single piece of property, Ranging from "Corner dairy X" at 1 point to "Well known large public area Y" at up to 5 points. This is to differentiate between resources, which is basically your income and actually property owned, which is not necessarily related to income.

Are people interested in having this merit or do you feel it is an unnecessary complication?

I like it.

It means that while you may have the money of Bruce Wayne, you don't have the ability to hold a street corner on your own. Or that you beg for pennies while no one else would venture into that suburb at night for fear of treading on your toes.

But does that mean that I could buy a 5pt merit to force the Prince to declare he is going to reward me Vicky Park just after I beat up his pet schnauzer?

To give a general idea as to what we're looking at.

1: Corner Dairy.
2: Large Cafe or a pub.
3: Large store or small hotel.
4: Large hotel.
5: Large and/or significant Auckland landmark, such as Sky City Casino, Auckland War Memorial Museum, Auckland Art Gallery etc.

Note that this has absolutely nothing to do with Domain, which is assigned by the Prince and can be as large as the Prince chooses.

OK, we will have this background available.

It will be a flat cost merit.

Note that you will have to take the appropriate actions to control a holding before you are allowed to purchase it. Some will require appropriate influence actions.
