Public Information July:
The normally quiet suburb of St Heliers literally exploded in a rain of cats & dogs on Thursday (The 28/6) when a cliff-top mansion was destroyed in a series of loud explosions. Neighbours reported shrapnel and animal part strikes on their million dollar homes and hearing the sound of gunfire, barking & meowing both before and after the explosions.
Police reports indicate that they believe the explosions and gunfire was gang related and that some human as well as animal bodies were found at the scene, though their identities have not yet been released. Some reports indicate that they (The people) were executed gangland style. Police request that anyone with information relating to the incidents of that night or may have seen anything to come forward.
Community groups have condemned this outbreak of gang violence and there is shock that such a thing could happen in that normally quiet neighbourhood and mourn the loss of their pets. The SPCA has condemned the attack as the most horrific episode of cruelty to animals in the history of Auckland and a dark day for animal rights.
